*5th Grade ELA Supplies List:
Pocket folder for homework and notices to go home
2 Composition notebooks for reading responses (any color!)
Back-pack with your child's name written inside
Post-it notes (big enough to write on and be put inside books)
*School hours are 7:30 am - 2:00 pm. Breakfast is served at 7:30 in the classroom. If your child comes later than 8:00, they will not be allowed to eat. Please make sure your child arrives on time so they are able to have breakfast and get ready for their day! The nurse is in the building 8:30-3:30.
*If you need your child to do something other than their normal dismissal routine, PLEASE send him/her with a signed note stating the change in dismissal. The note will be copied and the original will be sent to the office so Ms. Natasha can make a note of the change. If we do NOT have a signed note from you, your child MUST follow their normal routine. 5th Grade students will be dismissing from their classes at 2:10 every day.
*Wexler-Grant is a proud uniform school. It is mandatory that your child comes to school in his/her uniform every day (khaki pants/skirts/dresses/shorts and a navy blue collared shirt, navy long sleeve collared shirt, navy sweater, etc). If you need help obtaining a uniform (or multiple), please reach out to and I will get you the information you need. You can purchase uniforms at Target, Wal-Mart, and Burlington.
I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Sarah Skrelja and I am your child's new 5th Grade literacy and social studies teacher!! I am so excited to begin my fifth year at Wexler-Grant in 5th Grade, teaching Reading and Writing. I graduated from Sacred Heart University with my Master's in Elementary Education in May 2012 and have spent a lot of time in classrooms in different districts.
***I have included a small supplies list towards the middle of this page. Feel free to send your child to school with extras of anything (if possible) as we tend to run out fast of a lot of things!!***
You will be receiving a monthly newsletter that will update you on all the important happenings in our 5th Grade Literacy classroom. Your child will be encouraged to work to their potential, to learn to be proud of themselves, and to respect themselves, their families, and their community. I am expecting a fun year full of learning, growing, and hard work. I am here to encourage and support your child as they need, but I do want to see them become independent, successful individuals. I am so very excited to work with you and your child this year!!
